Dance Descriptions

Monday

4-5pm: Flexibility & Acro (taken with Thursday Petite Ballet)- Ages 3-7

5-6pm: Acro (taken with Monday Ballet)- Ages 7-12

6-7pm: Ballet (taken with Monday Acro)

· This class will focus on learning the basics of ballet. Ballet is the foundation of all dance styles, and everything learned in this class will assist them in their further dance endeavors. Flexibility and Acrobatic tricks will be focused on during the Acrobatics class, with specific attention being given to the technique of the tricks.

6-7pm: Jumps, Turns, Technique (Competition Group meets Monday, Tuesday, Friday), ages 8 +

· This class focuses on jumps, turns and technique, this Competition Group Class will give the dancers time to focus on learning and perfecting moves that will be utilized throughout choreography. A basic understanding of jumps, turns, and technique should be brought into this class, and an advanced understanding of jumps, turns and technique will be brought out of this class.


Tuesday

5-6pm: Acro (taken with Tuesday Tap\Jazz)- Ages 8+

6-7pm: Tap\Jazz (taken with Tuesday Acro)

· This class will focus on teaching and expanding knowledge on Tap, Jazz, and Acrobatics. This upbeat and high energy class will move along quickly, with 30 minutes spent on Tap technique, and 30 minutes spent on Jazz technique. Flexibility and Acrobatic tricks will be focused on during the Acrobatics class, with specific attention being given to the technique of the tricks.

6-7pm: Strength\Skill Building (Competition Group meets Monday, Tuesday, Friday)

· Focusing on building up their strength and their skills, this class will assist kids in areas that will assist all areas of dance. The strength built up in this class will assist the competition team in all of their dance areas and in their choreography, and the skills learned in this class is expand their knowledge and use of their own body when dancing.


Wednesday

4-5pm: Little’s Hip Hop- Ages 3-7

· This class will focus on learning the basics of hip hop. This class will teach hip hop technique through combinations done in the center of the floor, across the floor and in their recital routine. This class is great for kids with little to no hip hop experience.

5-6pm: Junior Hip Hop- Ages 7-10

· This class will focus on expanding the current knowledge of hip hop. This class will work on hip hop technique, with the intent to perfect key movements and techniques that will help them in their future hip hop endeavors. This class is great for kids with little to beginner amount of hip hop knowledge.

6-7pm: Intermediate Hip Hop- Ages 10 +

· This class will focus on expanding and perfecting the student’s current knowledge of hip hop. This class will work on hip hop technique, and the ability to apply that technique to choreography. This class is great for students with intermediate to advanced hip hop knowledge.

Thursday

4-5pm: Petite Ballet (taken with Monday Flexibility & Acro)

· This class is for students ages 3-7 and will focus on learning the basics of ballet, flexibility, and acrobatics. Ballet is the basis of all dance styles, and everything learned in this class will assist them in their future dance endeavors. Students must work for their flexibility and acrobatic abilities, and learning these skills early helps them in both their overall dance skills, and in their acrobatic skills specifically.

5-7pm: Musical Theatre- (Singing, Acting and Dance), ages 8-12

· This class focuses on singing, dancing and acting will all be rehearsed and performed in this class! For the first hour, the students will be working with a music instructor to learn songs. During the second hour, choreography and acting will be taught. The students will then be able to combine their singing, dancing and acting skills to perform them all at once!

5-6pm: Acro (Taken with Thursday Lyrical)

6-7pm: Lyrical Ballet- (taken with Thursday Acro)

· This class is for those with basic ballet or lyrical knowledge. This style is a mixture of ballet and jazz, and focus’s a lot on the emotion behind the movements. Flexibility and Acrobatic tricks will be focused on during the Acrobatics class, with specific attention being given to the technique of the tricks.

Friday

5-7pm: Choreography (Competition Group meets Monday, Thursday, Friday)

· Focusing on choreography for the Competition Team, this class will give the Team time to learn and perfect the dances they will be performing in competitions. Skills gained in the Jumps, Turns and Technique class and the Strength/Skill Building class will be utilized throughout the choreography.
